Benzydamine HCl
Indications/Uses
Temporary relief of painful conditions of the mouth & throat including tonsillitis, sore throat, radiation mucositis, aphthous ulcers, pharyngitis, swelling, redness, inflammatory conditions, post-orosurgical & periodontal procedures.
Dosage/Direction for Use
D Throat Spray 0.15% Adult & childn >12 yr 4-8 sprays, repeat every 1½ to 3 hr if necessary. Childn 6-12 yr 4 sprays, repeat every 1½ to 3 hr if necessary, <6 yr 1 spray to be administered per 4 kg body wt, up to a max of 4 sprays, repeat every 1½ to 3 hr if necessary. D Throat Spray 0.3% Adult & childn >12 yr 2-4 sprays, repeat every 2-3 hr if necessary. Max: 6 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr 2 sprays, repeat every 2-3 hr if necessary. Max: 6 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ acute asthma, urticarial or nasal cavity inflammation; bleeding in stomach or intestine or perforation; dengue fever; other platelet abnormalities; heart diseases & kidney dysfunction. May increase risk of stomach & intestine bleeding or ulcers; ischemic stroke & angina especially when used at high dose for prolonged time. HTN. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Severe liver or kidney diseases. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for prolonged use in pregnancy (3rd trimester). Elderly.
